+ Planned Giving

Give to the future! Participants can support Westben’s sustainability by setting up bequests, contributing to Westben’s Endowment Fund, or by naming Westben as a life insurance beneficiary. Please contact Brian Finley at the Westben office to discuss the many options available. Donations to the Planned Giving, Endowment and Bursary funds are tax deductible and will contribute immensely to supporting Westben’s long-term stability and vision.

There is a Song called the Westben Arts Festival Theatre. It is Westben’s greatest dream to have this Song “play on!”

To ensure the future of World Class Music at Westben, a Planned Giving Program has been developed, offering a variety of ways to provide gifts or bequests. Gifts may be unrestricted or designated for a specific capital project or program.

Note: As with any major decision you should consult with your family, lawyer, accountant, or financial planners as individual circumstances vary.

For those who love the Westben experience of World Class Music, we hope this sounds like music to your ears! We welcome your interest and enquiries and invite you to refer to the options.

BEQUESTS BY WILL
Many people would like to make a significant gift to the Westben Arts Festival Theatre Foundation but wish to ensure that they have enough funds for their own future. One way of doing both is to include a Bequest to the Foundation in your Will.

GIFTS IN KIND
Gifts in kind (tangible personal property other than certified cultural property) may include art works, furniture, equipment, collections and other such objects. This type of gift is usually received from the owner of objects which they no longer intend to use and that the Foundation has agreed to accept. The donor receives a gift receipt for fair market value and has the satisfaction of seeing the gift at work now or in the near future.

CHARITABLE GIVING - SECURITIES
Charitable giving benefits both society and the donor if it is done properly. Large gifts should be part of any tax, financial and estate plans. In 1997, the Federal Budget announced special rules for gifts to charities of securities listed on the Canadian Stock Exchange and many major Foreign exchanges.

GIFTS THROUGH LIFE INSURANCE
The gift of a life insurance policy often enables a donor to turn a modest current investment in premiums into a much larger future gift.

CHARITABLE GIFT ANNUITIES
A charitable gift annuity is a way to make an immediate gift while at the same time setting up a guaranteed income for the rest of your life.

CHARITABLE GIFTS THROUGH RRSP & RRIF ACCUMULATION
Another method of making a future gift is through your own RRSP or RRIF. By naming Westben Arts Festival Theatre Foundation as a beneficiary of your RRSP/RRIF your estate will qualify for a charitable donation eligible for a tax credit. The taxes payable by your estate could be significantly reduced, as your estate will receive a tax credit for the charitable gift.

+ Capital Improvement Fund

We are building for the future, and we invite you to help! As Westben develops into a year-round Centre, we are strategizing over a host of capital improvements ranging from a new Ticket Shed and Volunteer Centre to improved visitor services to badly needed backstage facilities for our gracious guest artists. While we plan and prioritize these improvements, we are building a financial reserve through a Capital Improvement Fund.

In addition to being 100% tax-receiptable, contributions to this Fund will not only help bring these projects to fruition, but they will help us leverage additional funding through a variety of sources such as government grants and corporate donations. If we build it, they will come. But in order to build it, we need your help! Kindly consider making a donation to the Capital Improvement Fund. It is water for the Garden we love!

For more information on various levels and benefits, contact the Westben Box Office at The West Schoolhouse, 6678 County Road 30, Campbellford, (705) 653-5508.

Endowment Fund

The Arts Endowment Fund Program is a program of the Government of Ontario through the Ministry of Culture administered by the Ontario Arts Foundation. Under the terms of the program money raised by eligible arts organizations such as Westben, for endowment from the private sector is matched “dollar for dollar” and invested in perpetuity. Each year, Westben receives income from the endowment established in their name under the program.

Employee Giving Program

Does your company have an employee giving program which encourages you to donate to charities? If so, why not consider Westben? As an eligible charitable organization, we might just be your ticket!

Bursary Fund

In its ongoing commitment to young, emerging artists, Westben has established a Bursary Fund. Donations to this fund are used to offer scholarships and subsidies to young artists participating in Westben’s educational activities.

+ Schoolhouse Capital Campaign

On to Phase 2! Ring the Bell!! We are overjoyed to announce that we have reached our initial fundraising goal of $400,000 to support Phase 1 of the Westben Schoolhouse Project! It may have been dark times, but a whole community of supporters held high the Torch of Possibility! 388 donations were received from donors whose names are now permanently added to the Attendance Board at the Schoolhouse. We are also thankful to the Ontario Trillium Foundation and to the Commonwell Mutual Insurance Group L.E.A.F. Initiative. And a very special thank-you to the Board for their lead donation of $40,000 to get the bell swinging!! Phase 1 of the West Schoolhouse Project included the acquisition of the West Schoolhouse, along with basic upgrades. Ahead, Phase 2 seeks to increase the public use, safety and accessibility of the space such as accessible washrooms and entrance, box office and storage space so the Main Room can accommodate community gathering more effectively, hospitality services, artist services, etc. We heartily welcome you to support Phase 2 through a tax-deductible donation.
